Airbnb Expands Services with Hotels, Car Rentals, Luggage, and More

Airbnb has expanded its services to include luxurious hotels, instant car rentals, airport transfers, luggage storage, and local travel adventures.

Airbnb unveiled its 2026 Summer Release, pushing well beyond home rentals into hotels, car rentals, luggage storage and more as CEO Brian Chesky pitched the app as "an Amazon for services" for travel and living. ABNB is repositioning the platform as a full-stack travel marketplace rather than a home-sharing app.

The expansion adds thousands of boutique and independent hotels across 20 top destinations including New York, Paris, London and Rome, in-app car rentals with 20% credit back on a first booking, and luggage storage through a Bounce partnership spanning more than 15,000 locations in 175 cities. Airbnb also layered in grocery delivery via Instacart in more than 25 U.S. cities and airport rides through Welcome Pickups in over 160 cities.

The move broadens Airbnb's addressable market and opens new take-rate streams beyond its core booking fee, but it also pushes the company into crowded categories dominated by entrenched players in hotels, car rental and food delivery. Investors will watch whether the added services lift bookings per trip and engagement without diluting margins or the brand.
