Albemarle Beats Q3 Estimates as Realized Lithium Prices Nearly Double, Lifts Specialties Outlook

SentiSense · Published · Updated

Albemarle reported third-quarter adjusted EPS of $2.58, above the $2.53 FactSet consensus, on net sales of $1,553.1 million, up 18.8%. Energy Storage average realized pricing rose 94.7% year over year even as volumes fell, lifting segment adjusted EBITDA 351% to $560 million. The company raised its 2026 Specialties EBITDA outlook to $350-$375 million and cut capex guidance to $300-$350 million.

ALB reported third-quarter results after the market close on November 4 that beat expectations on the back of sharply higher lithium prices. Adjusted diluted EPS was $2.58, against a FactSet consensus of $2.53, and GAAP EPS was $2.15. Net sales rose 18.8% to $1,553.1 million from $1,307.8 million a year earlier.

Pricing did the work. In the Energy Storage segment, average realized price rose 94.7% year over year, from $10.28 to $20.02 per kilogram of lithium carbonate equivalent, even though volumes fell to 56 kilotons from 69. That pushed Energy Storage adjusted EBITDA up $436 million, or 351%, to $560 million.

Albemarle also adjusted its outlook. It raised 2026 Specialties adjusted EBITDA guidance to $350 million to $375 million from $275 million to $325 million, and cut capital expenditure guidance to $300 million to $350 million from about $500 million. Liquidity stood at about $3.4 billion, including $1.8 billion of cash and cash equivalents. The shares closed up 3.58% at $98.37 on November 5, according to market data, a gain in a session when much of the market sold off.

What to watch: whether lithium prices hold at current levels into the fourth quarter, how far volumes keep falling, and whether lower capital spending constrains future growth.
