Anthropic Lands Multi-Billion Dollar Deals Amid Patent Infringement Lawsuits

Anthropic signed a tens of billions dollar deal with Advanced Micro Devices and has been sued for patent infringement. A potential $10 billion compute lease deal between Meta Platforms and Anthropic is underway, raising concerns among neocloud investors.

Anthropic, an AI research firm, recently landed a significant deal with Advanced Micro Devices worth tens of billions of dollars for AI servers. This deal strengthens AMD's position against its competitor NVIDIA.

However, the company faces challenges with lawsuits. University of Tennessee filed a lawsuit against Anthropic over AI patent infringement [doc4 and doc11]. Other lawsuits have been filed in response to Anthropic's Mythos AI model, a large language model.

Additionally, Anthropic agreed to a $1.5 billion settlement for alleged copyright infringement and has been involved in patent infringement cases [doc6 and doc8 and doc9].

The company is also reportedly in talks with Meta Platforms for a potential $10 billion compute lease deal over two years, which may impact the neocloud industry [doc14 and doc1]. This agreement has raised concerns among investors in neoclouds like Nebius, CoreWeave, and Iren.
