Apple announced a 14-inch MacBook Pro and a 24-inch iMac built on its M6 chip on Oct. 27, by press release. The MacBook Pro starts at $1,999 and the iMac at $1,499, both on sale Nov. 6. The iMac keeps its existing design and seven colors. The bigger launch is expected Wednesday: touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro models on M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, per Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.
AAPL announced a new 14-inch MacBook Pro and a refreshed 24-inch iMac on Tuesday, Oct. 27, both built on the M6 chip that first shipped in the Mac mini. The announcements came by press release rather than at an event. The base 14-inch MacBook Pro moves from M5 to M6 and starts at $1,999, and the iMac starts at $1,499. Pre-orders open Oct. 28 and both go on sale Nov. 6.
Apple frames both as performance upgrades. Against the M5 model, the MacBook Pro offers up to 30% faster graphics and up to 25% faster AI workloads, with battery life of up to 24 hours, per Apple's press release. The M6 has a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU against 10 of each in the M5, and the MacBook Pro also gains Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 through Apple's N1 wireless chip. The iMac replaces an M4 model, and Apple claims up to 5x faster on-device AI against it (Apple). Neither design changes, and the iMac keeps the same seven colors despite an August report from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman that new colors were coming.
The bigger launch is expected Wednesday. Gurman reports Apple will announce 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with touch-enabled OLED displays on M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, and Apple is hosting a private "Pro and tell" experience in Los Angeles starting at 10 a.m. Pacific. Six Colors noted the Wednesday models could replace the current M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pros or sit in a higher-priced tier.
For the stock, Tuesday's refresh was routine: Apple shares were flat on the news, and Mac revenue was $33.7 billion of Apple's $416.1 billion total in 2025. 9to5Mac called the new MacBook Pro solely a spec bump. What to watch: pricing and reception of the touchscreen models on Wednesday, and whether the AI performance pitch shows up in Mac revenue in Apple's next quarterly reports.
