BNP Paribas Signs Five-Year Gemini Deal With Google Cloud, Targets $853M in AI Value Creation

BNP Paribas signed a five-year agreement with Google Cloud for access to its cloud infrastructure, Gemini Enterprise and Gemini models, starting with the bank's corporate and institutional banking unit. The bank projects $853 million in value creation from the partnership, according to Global Finance; that is BNP's own target for revenue gains and efficiencies, not a contract value, and it does not appear in the companies' joint press release.
BNP Paribas has signed a five-year agreement with Google Cloud that gives the French bank access to Google Cloud infrastructure, Gemini Enterprise and Gemini AI models. According to the joint press release, the Gemini models will be integrated into LLM@CIB, the corporate and institutional banking unit's generative AI assistant, which is available to more than 65,000 employees, and AI agents will support corporate credit memos as well as sales, trading, research and structuring work.
The headline number needs care. Global Finance reports that BNP projects $853 million in value creation through the partnership. That is the bank's own self-set target for revenue gains and efficiencies, not a deal price or spend commitment, and it is absent from the joint press release. Group CIO Marc Camus said value creation "does not necessarily mean cost savings" and can include revenue from pricing optimization. The figure is separate from BNP's group-wide AI goal: the bank quantified €635 million in AI benefits for 2025 and targets €750 million in 2026.
For Alphabet, the deal adds a large European bank to Google Cloud's roster of Gemini enterprise customers. Google Cloud consultants will work directly with BNP staff to build AI tools for specific use cases, and BNP said customer data and other confidential information will not be used to train Google's models. BNP also extended its agreement with Mistral AI earlier this year, and Camus said the two relationships are meant to complement each other rather than compete.
Items to watch: how quickly Gemini-powered tools move from the corporate and institutional bank to other divisions, whether BNP reports progress against its AI value targets, and how the work is split between Google Cloud and Mistral.
