Broadcom Appoints Alphabet's Amie Thuener as Next CFO
Broadcom has selected Alphabet executive Amie Thuener as its new Chief Financial Officer. Thuener joins Broadcom from Alphabet, a leading technology company.
Broadcom (AVGO) announced Wednesday that Amie Thuener will become its next Chief Financial Officer effective June 12, 2026, succeeding Kirsten Spears who is retiring after more than 12 years with the company, including her tenure as CFO since late 2020. Thuener joins from Alphabet, where she served as Vice President, Corporate Controller, and Chief Accounting Officer since 2018, overseeing financial reporting and governance at one of the world's largest technology companies. CEO Hock Tan said Thuener will "bring deep experience in financial reporting, corporate governance, AI-related transactions, and leading complex, global organizations."
The appointment lands as Broadcom accelerates through a historic AI-driven growth phase. In Q1 FY2026 (ended February 1), the company posted $19.3 billion in revenue, up 29% year-over-year, with its AI segment surging 106% to $8.4 billion. Operating income reached a record $12.8 billion at a 66.4% margin. For Q2, Broadcom guided to approximately $22 billion in revenue and $10.7 billion in AI revenue, representing 140% year-over-year AI growth. Thuener's experience managing AI-related transactions at Alphabet positions her as a strategic fit for this trajectory.
Spears will remain as an advisor for nine months post-transition to support a clean handoff. Thuener's start date precedes her official CFO assumption on May 4, 2026, providing a 39-day overlap. AVGO traded near $314 on the announcement, roughly 33% below the consensus analyst price target of $471, suggesting the market views current levels as a significant discount to fair value. Analysts noted that Erste Group separately downgraded the stock to hold on software segment growth concerns, independent of the CFO transition.
