Cadence Design Systems (CDNS) reported third-quarter 2026 revenue of $1.633 billion on Monday, October 26, up 22% from $1.339 billion a year earlier, according to the company's results release. Non-GAAP earnings per share were $2.11, up from $1.93, ahead of the $2.04 consensus cited by Investing.com and Zacks; MarketBeat measured the beat against a $2.05 estimate. Revenue also topped the roughly $1.61 billion analysts expected.

The company raised its full-year 2026 outlook to revenue of $6.387 billion to $6.417 billion, about 21% growth at the midpoint, and non-GAAP EPS of $8.37 to $8.43. In July, Cadence had guided to $6.26 billion to $6.34 billion and $8.05 to $8.15 (Q2 release), so the EPS midpoint rose $0.30 to $8.40. Both new midpoints sit above pre-report consensus of $6.323 billion and $8.15, per Investing.com.

Quarter-end backlog reached a record $8.2 billion, with $4.2 billion expected to be recognized over the next 12 months, and recurring revenue grew 18% year over year. Investing.com reported growth in every product group: core EDA up 20%, IP up 24% and System Design and Analysis up 30%. The Motley Fool pointed to accelerating demand for hardware verification tools as chip complexity rises. CEO Anirudh Devgan tied the outlook to the launch of Maestro, a portfolio of domain-specialized AI models for chip and system design, and to deployment of the company's AI Super Agents, framing both around the "Agentic AI opportunity".

Profitability was the softer line. GAAP operating margin fell to 26.2% from 31.8% and non-GAAP operating margin to 44.1% from 47.6%, while GAAP EPS was flat at $1.05. Cadence spent $400 million on buybacks in the quarter, and its board authorized another $2.5 billion (release).

Shares rose 2% in after-hours trading Monday, per Investing.com, after closing the regular session at $322.17. Before the report the stock was up only about 1.3% year to date against an 11.4% gain in the S&P 500, and it trades at about 64 times trailing earnings, per MarketBeat. Points to watch include whether Tuesday's regular session holds the after-hours gain, whether margins move back toward the full-year non-GAAP range of 44.2% to 45.2%, and fourth-quarter non-GAAP EPS guidance of $2.19 to $2.25 against the $2.03 consensus Zacks listed before the release.
