CME Group Expands Options and Futures Product Line
CME Group is launching new options and futures products with partners Morningstar and Ethena-WEEX. New financial products will provide investors with more flexibility and access to major indexes.
CME Group CME announced an exclusive, multi-year licensing agreement with Morningstar to launch derivatives on Morningstar's equity index benchmarks, including its US Total Market, Large Cap, Mid Cap and Small Cap indexes. The indexes, rebranded from CRSP after Morningstar's February 2026 acquisition, underpin more than $3 trillion in linked assets.
Alongside the licensing deal, CME said it will list four new E-mini equity index futures, pending regulatory review, with trading slated to begin June 29. The contracts will let market participants trade futures covering more than 90% of the U.S. investable market capitalization.
The expansion deepens CME's benchmark suite and adds a new family of broad-market products at a time of strong demand for index hedging tools. For CME, exclusive index rights are a durable competitive moat, and the launch positions it to capture trading volume as the Morningstar-branded benchmarks gain adoption.
