DVN reported third-quarter 2026 revenue of $6.86 billion, 6.39% below the Zacks consensus, while earnings of $1.42 per share beat the $1.24 consensus. Consensus varies by provider: S&P-sourced figures put the revenue estimate at $7.16 billion and the EPS estimate at $1.31, so the quarter was a revenue miss and an earnings beat on either measure.

The $1.42 figure is core earnings, which excludes certain items. On a GAAP basis, Devon reported net earnings of $1.0 billion, or $0.88 per diluted share. Revenue was up 59.5% from a year earlier, reflecting the Coterra combination that closed in May and nearly doubled oil production per day.

Production averaged 1,668,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, within guidance, made up of 553,000 barrels of oil, 382,000 barrels of NGLs and 4.4 billion cubic feet of gas. Eagle Ford oil volumes were below expectations because of completion timing. Realized prices including hedges were $79.54 per barrel for oil and $2.16 per thousand cubic feet for gas. Adjusted free cash flow was $2.0 billion, and Devon returned $1,530 million through dividends, buybacks and retiring its remaining term loan.

Devon reaffirmed full-year production and capital guidance and guided fourth-quarter production to 1,660,000 to 1,700,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. It also agreed in October to sell its Eagle Ford assets for $4.2 billion in cash, with closing expected in early 2027. Shares fell 4.2% to $42.01 right after the report and closed the Nov. 6 session at $42.21, down 1.6%.

What to watch: how Devon deploys the Eagle Ford proceeds, the pace of buybacks it says will exceed $1 billion in the fourth quarter, and the 2027 capital plan of about $5.3 billion.
