FedEx Freight Reports First Earnings as Stand-Alone Company, Forecasts Growth
FedEx Freight reported Q4 revenue of $2.4B and full-year operating income of $616M. The company forecasted up to 6% revenue growth for the remainder of 2026.
FedEx Freight completed its spinoff from FDX on June 1, 2026, and reported its inaugural standalone earnings on June 25. Q4 revenue came in at $2.4 billion, up 5% year-over-year, with revenue per shipment rising 11.5%. Adjusted operating income was $363 million (a 15% margin), though GAAP operating income fell 66.9% to $158 million due to $205 million in one-time spinoff charges.
For the seven-month transition period from June through December 2026, FedEx Freight guided to 4-6% top-line revenue growth and adjusted EPS of $2.40-$2.60. Transition costs are expected to exceed $600 million over the next 12 months as the company builds standalone IT infrastructure, HR systems, and supply chain operations previously shared with the parent. Margin pressure is expected to persist through the integration period before normalizing in 2027, according to analyst commentary from Investing.com.
FedEx Freight enters independence as the largest LTL (less-than-truckload) network in North America by revenue. That scale advantage insulates it from commodity rate competition but exposes it directly to industrial production cycles. Analysts are calibrating whether the 15% adjusted operating margin is a floor or ceiling heading into a freight environment where Class 8 truck order rates remain below normalized levels. The first full-quarter standalone results in August will be the cleaner test of operational independence from FDX.
