Google AI Mode adds flight price tracking in 180 countries and US hotel booking with 10 partners

Google extended AI Mode in Search with flight price tracking, now live in more than 180 countries and territories, and conversational hotel booking that is rolling out in the United States in English with ten launch partners including Choice Hotels. A points and miles view launched with five loyalty programs and five more are queued. None of the coverage reports a market reaction.

GOOGL has pushed AI Mode further into travel commerce. Flight price tracking is now available in more than 180 countries and territories, drawing on more than 300 partner airlines and travel sites, and users can opt into email alerts when a fare moves. Alongside it, Google added a view that shows what a booking costs in loyalty points, launching with five programs and naming five more as coming soon.

The booking half of the announcement is narrower than the headline suggests. Conversational hotel booking, which finishes in a Google Pay flow, has started rolling out in the United States in English only and will reach more users over the coming weeks. It launched with ten partners, among them Booking.com, Expedia, Hilton, IHG, Marriott, Priceline, Trip.com, Wyndham and Choice Hotels, so Choice is one of ten co-equal launch partners rather than an exclusive integration.

Choice Hotels' own release describes conversational search, side-by-side room comparison and Choice Privileges points visibility inside the flow. Its portfolio figures of more than 7,500 hotels, roughly 650,000 rooms, 22 brands and 46 countries are the company's global footprint and not a statement of how much inventory is bookable through AI Mode today, which neither company has quantified.

The strategic read is that Google is trying to keep travel intent inside Search rather than handing it to dedicated aggregators, which is where a large share of high-value travel ad spend sits. None of the source coverage reports any share price or analyst reaction for Alphabet or Choice Hotels, so the near-term financial impact is unmeasured. What to watch is whether the US hotel flow expands to other markets and whether the aggregators that supply much of Google's travel advertising treat a booking surface inside Search as a partner or a competitor.
