Google Expands Gemini Capabilities Across Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive

Google has rolled out Gemini features to Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive, enabling users to generate content, build spreadsheets, design presentations, and access AI assistant within the apps. The features include a 'Help me create' tool in Docs and new Gemini chat windows, spreadsheet generation, and search features in Drive.

Google has taken another step in its push to incorporate Gemini AI assistant into its Workspace apps with a rollout of new features to Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive . For Docs, this includes a 'Help me create' tool that generates a formatted first draft based on the user's prompt and available data from Drive, Gmail, Chat, and the web . It can also match writing style or formatting of a reference document, aiming to reduce the manual effort needed in creating new content, especially considering that more than a third of new Docs are created from copies of existing files .

In Sheets and Slides, users can leverage Gemini for creating new documents and presentations, and a Gemini chat window has been added within Google Docs, offering users an interface to interact with the AI assistant . Additionally, a new Gemini-powered search feature has been introduced in Drive .

These updates aim to provide users with a more seamless and integrated experience across the Google Workspace, empowering them to get work done more efficiently within the platforms . The capabilities started rolling out in beta for Google AI Ultra and Pro subscribers and Gemini Alpha business customers on March 10, in English only .
