Johnson Controls Beats Q4 Estimates, Posts Record $23 Billion Backlog and Initiates FY27 Guidance
SentiSense · Published · Updated
Johnson Controls reported fiscal Q4 2026 adjusted EPS of $1.66, above the $1.58 analyst estimate, on sales up 10% to $7.1 billion (organic sales +12%). Orders rose 44% organically and backlog reached $23.0 billion, up 43% organically, led by Americas data-center demand. The company initiated FY27 guidance of 11% to 12% organic sales growth and adjusted EPS of $6.15 to $6.30, and shares rose about 4% intraday.
JCI reported fiscal fourth-quarter 2026 adjusted EPS of $1.66 (GAAP EPS $1.60), ahead of the $1.58 analyst estimate cited by Investing.com. Sales rose 10% to $7.1 billion and organic sales rose 12%, according to the company's earnings release, with revenue of $7.11 billion against a $7.04 billion consensus. Shares were up about 4% intraday on the day of the report.
The bigger signal was demand. Orders rose 44% organically year over year and backlog reached $23.0 billion, up 43% organically, which gives the company unusual visibility into FY27 revenue. The Americas segment led: sales of $4.9 billion rose 14%, adjusted segment EBITA margin expanded 210 basis points to 22.0%, and Americas backlog of $17.8 billion rose 54%. The release credits sustained data-center demand in that region. EMEA organic sales grew 3% amid pressure from Middle East conflicts, and APAC sales rose 12%.
The company also initiated its FY27 guidance rather than raising an existing outlook: organic sales growth of 11% to 12%, operating leverage of 30% or more, adjusted EPS of $6.15 to $6.30 and adjusted free cash flow conversion of about 95%. For comparison, FY26 adjusted EPS was $5.16 on organic revenue growth of more than 8%. All guidance figures are non-GAAP.
What to watch: whether order growth holds after a 44% quarter, how fast the backlog converts to sales and margin, and whether the 12% to 14% organic growth guided for the first quarter of FY27 is delivered. A large share of the backlog sits in the Americas, so data-center project timing could influence results.
