MaxLinear Expands AI Infrastructure Portfolio with RackCommander Control-Plane Portfolio and Carmel High-Speed Product
MaxLinear introduced the RackCommander control-plane portfolio for next-generation AI infrastructure, featuring two products: MxL745950 and MxL745951P intelligent eFuse solutions. Additionally, the company launched the Carmel high-speed USB-to-UART product for AI data center console access.
MaxLinear expanded its AI infrastructure portfolio in early August 2026, launching the RackCommander control-plane portfolio alongside two new eFuse products, the MxL745950 and MxL745951P.
RackCommander ties compute nodes, power shelves, cooling systems, sensors and service processors into a single control-plane architecture for AI racks, extending MXL beyond its traditional optical and RF hardware into rack-level management silicon.
The MxL745950 is a 16V, 50A eFuse in a compact 5mm x 5mm package, while the MxL745951P is a 16V, 60A stackable eFuse with PMBus/I2C telemetry and non-volatile fault recording, both aimed at protecting power paths in AI servers and accelerator trays. Separately, the company introduced Carmel, a high-speed USB-to-UART product for AI data center console access.
The launches build on MaxLinear's existing AI optical connectivity business, which grew 136% year-over-year to $63 million in Q1 2026 and helped drive the stock to an all-time high near $63 at the time. Whether the new control-plane silicon can convert into meaningful incremental revenue alongside MaxLinear's hyperscaler optical deals is the next signal for investors to watch.
