Motorola Solutions Acquires D-Fend for $1.5 Billion

Motorola Solutions is acquiring D-Fend Solutions, a company specializing in counter-drone systems, for $1.5 billion. This acquisition is part of Motorola's expansion into the counter-drone market.

MSI announced a definitive agreement to acquire D-Fend Solutions, an Israeli counter-drone technology firm, for $1.5 billion, deepening Motorola's push into the fast-growing counter-drone market.

D-Fend's flagship EnforceAir system detects a drone's communication protocol, takes control of it, and forces a safe landing, technology deployed across more than 30 countries. The company has grown annual revenue over 50% in each of the last three years and expects full-year 2026 revenue of about $185 million. The deal also lands against a supportive policy backdrop: the Safer Skies Act, enacted as part of the FY2026 National Defense Authorization Act, lets certified state and local law enforcement mitigate drone threats.

The acquisition is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, pending regulatory approval. Investors will watch integration with Motorola's public-safety portfolio and the margin profile of the higher-growth counter-drone business.
