Nordson Posts Strong Q3 2026 Results, Raises Guidance as AI Demand Boosts Backlog

Nordson Corp reported Q3 2026 revenue of $817.7 million, a 10% year‑over‑year increase, and beat earnings estimates. The company lifted its full‑year guidance, citing a 31% jump in advanced technology solutions sales and a 35% surge in backlog driven by AI demand. Cash flow of $570 million funded debt reduction and share buybacks, while analysts upgraded price targets. The stock rose over 7% following the results.

Nordson Corporation posted record fiscal third-quarter 2026 sales of $817.7 million, up 10% from $741.5 million a year earlier, with double-digit organic growth across all segments. Net income rose to $152.8 million and diluted EPS reached $2.73, up from $2.22, while adjusted diluted EPS came in at $3.25 against $2.73 in the prior-year quarter. NDSN shares jumped on the print.

The signal in the quarter is the order book rather than the revenue line. Backlog rose 35% year over year, and the Advanced Technology Solutions segment, which serves semiconductor and electronics assembly customers, grew sales 28% to about $220 million as AI-related capacity investment pulled through demand for precision dispensing and test equipment. Backlog growth of that magnitude is what gives management the visibility to raise guidance rather than simply reaffirm it.

Nordson lifted its fiscal 2026 outlook to sales of $3,035 million to $3,075 million and adjusted diluted EPS of $11.80 to $12.00. Analyst reaction skewed positive, with at least one firm raising its price target following the beat.

The open question is durability. ATS is the most cyclical part of the portfolio, and a 35% backlog and 28% segment growth rate both reflect a semiconductor capital-spending cycle that has historically turned quickly. What to watch is whether backlog conversion holds through the fourth quarter and into fiscal 2027, and whether the industrial and medical segments carry growth if the electronics cycle cools.
