NVIDIA Unveils New AI CPU Vera in Compute Power Race with AMD and Intel

NVDA unveiled Vera, its first server CPU purpose-built for autonomous AI agents, and published the full specifications in a direct challenge to AMD and INTC . Built on a custom 88-core Arm architecture codenamed Olympus, NVIDIA says Vera delivers roughly 1.8x the performance of comparable x86 server processors by accelerating the data pipelines and token generation that agentic workloads lean on.

The chip has already reached the labs that matter: NVIDIA hand-delivered the first pre-production Vera units to OpenAI, Anthropic, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure for evaluation ahead of commercial availability in fall 2026. Vera anchors the high-end, liquid-cooled Vera Rubin platform, extending NVIDIA's reach from the GPU into the CPU tier of the AI data center and positioning it to capture a larger share of each server's silicon budget.
