Robinhood pushes 24-hour tokenized stocks and crypto-driven prediction markets

Robinhood crypto chief Johann Kerbrat said at XRP Seoul 2026 that 24-hour tokenized stock trading will be "a remarkable change" and that the company is awaiting further SEC guidance, a plan rather than a US launch. CEO Vlad Tenev told CNBC in September that crypto contracts are taking a disproportionate share of prediction-market trading. Bloomberg reports traders on Robinhood Chain are pairing Stock Tokens with memecoins, with pair volume peaking near $440 million a day in early September.

HOOD executives are pressing the case that blockchain rails and crypto will reshape how retail customers trade. Speaking at XRP Seoul 2026, Johann Kerbrat, general manager of Robinhood Crypto, said "24-hour tokenized stock trading will be a remarkable change" and that Robinhood is awaiting follow-up guidance from the SEC. That is a stated direction, not a new launch: Robinhood's Stock Tokens went live for eligible EU customers in June 2025 with 200+ US stock and ETF tokens and 24/5 access, while round-the-clock trading was pitched as a goal for its own blockchain.

On prediction markets, CEO Vlad Tenev said in a September appearance on CNBC's Mad Money that crypto is already taking a disproportionate share of event-contract trading and that sports could become the minority within a few years. The Motley Fool notes Robinhood earned $156 million from prediction markets in the second quarter, up more than tenfold year over year, and that contracts traded in August ran 15 times year-ago levels. At Kalshi, one of the exchanges behind Robinhood's contracts, crypto prediction volume rose from $337 million in January to about $7.5 billion in August.

The tokens are also finding a speculative use. Bloomberg reports that traders on Robinhood Chain are pairing Stock Tokens, which Robinhood says are backed 1:1 by custodied shares, with memecoins in liquidity pools, and that daily volume in those pairs peaked around $440 million in early September before falling fast. AMC CEO Adam Aron demanded Robinhood stop a token tied to AMC, and Tenev pushed back. The tokens carry no voting rights.

Regulation is the swing factor. The SEC last month granted temporary exemptions letting certain venues trade tokenized US stocks onchain, and Robinhood said this week it plans weekend trading in US stocks. Watch for the SEC follow-up Kerbrat referenced, whether US customers gain token access, and prediction-market volumes in Robinhood's monthly operating data.
