Tesla's European Sales Rebound in May with 700% Surge in France and Doubling in Spain and Denmark

Tesla's European sales see a significant recovery in May, with France experiencing a 700% surge and Spain and Denmark seeing a doubling of sales. This marks a strong comeback for the company in the region.

Tesla's European registrations rebounded sharply in May, led by a standout recovery in France where new registrations jumped more than 700% year over year to about 5,446 units, the company's best May ever in that market. Denmark rose roughly 136% to around 1,750 units, with the Model Y ranking as the top-selling vehicle overall, while Spain climbed about 113% to 1,690 units and Portugal surged close to 350%. TSLA has now registered more than 20,000 vehicles in France year to date.

The rebound follows a difficult 2025 for TSLA in Europe and appears tied to the refreshed Model Y ramp, supportive EV policies, and renewed consumer demand. Higher fuel prices across the region, amplified by the recent energy shock, may also be nudging buyers toward electric vehicles.

For investors, the May data offers an early signal that Tesla's European demand could be stabilizing after a year of share erosion to local and Chinese rivals. Markets will watch whether the momentum holds into June and whether the gains reflect genuine demand recovery rather than a pull-forward tied to incentive changes.
