Uber and Wayve Partner for London's First Robotaxi Service

UBER is teaming with autonomous-driving startup Wayve to launch London's first robotaxi service, a milestone for self-driving deployment in one of Europe's most complex urban environments. Wayve, which Uber has backed, develops an embodied-AI approach to autonomy that learns to drive from data rather than relying on hand-coded rules and detailed pre-mapping.

The partnership deepens Uber's strategy of layering autonomous capacity onto its existing ride-hailing network through partners rather than building a self-driving stack in-house. London's dense, heavily regulated streets make it a demanding proving ground, and a successful launch would be a strong validation of Wayve's technology and Uber's platform model.
